Ogura Clutch
As a producer of mechanical clutches for the machine tool industry, Ogura was established in 1938. Electromagnetic clutches were developed in the late 1950's. Air-conditioning clutches were created in the early 1960s, while micro clutches for office automation equipment were created in the late 1960s. Lawn and garden clutches as well as a range of industrial clutches and brakes, including the hysteresis and multiple disk units, were created in the 1970s. The spring applied brake line and permanent magnet slip clutches were invented in the 1980s. Ogura kept automating its production facilities in the 1990s to cut production costs. Additionally, new clutch versions were created for industrial clients. For usage in paper transport drives and office automation technology, they included the OPL, PHT, and MIC microclutches. To accommodate the continuously rising horsepower ranges in those areas, new types of mobile and lawn and garden clutches were also developed. To meet the demand of these markets, new manufacturing facilities were opened in the US and China in the early half of the 2000s.
For applications requiring torque ranging from.01 oz-in. to 25,000 lb.ft., Ogura supplies clutches and brakes. A total of 5,000 distinct clutch models are offered. We have the versatility to handle unique designs or adjustments for our customers in addition to a large standard product line. In the production of electromagnetic clutches and brakes, Ogura was a pioneer in the use of robotics. We have a committed design team that is in charge of continuously coming up with unique ideas to help enhance quality and reduce production costs. The Xerox Award of Excellence was given to Ogura. The Total Quality Excellence Award (TQE), given by Ford Motor Company, was originally received by Ogura in Japan. The manufacturing facilities of Ogura are currently compliant with many international quality standards, including ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO/TS16949.
